Rain CII facilities recognized for outstanding safety records

Norco Safety

Rain CII facilities were repeatedly recognized in 2012 for significant awards and   milestones relevant to safety performance, and the depth and breadth of our performance speaks to our commitment to being an industry leader in safety.

Among the highlights from this very impressive and safe year:

  • Norco plant was the winner of the LCA “Best in Louisiana” SAFE award for Class One facilities.
  • Gramercy and Chalmette plants were two of the four finalists for the LCA “BEST in Louisiana” SAFE award.
  • Lake Charles plant was one of four finalist for the LCA “Most Improved” SAFE award.
  • Purvis (MS), Moundsville (WV), and Robinson (IL), our facilities located outside of Louisiana, have also shown outstanding safety performance by completing from two to eight years without an OSHA recordable incident.

“Rain CII is committed to protecting our employees and the environment at our seven calcining plants and this has been demonstrated by declining incident rates across our organization,” says Larry Minton, our Director of Environmental, Safety, and Health. “The culture of safety embraced by our employees is evidenced by the fact that every one of our plants celebrated a significant safety milestone in 2012.”

We place a very high value on the safety, health, and wellbeing of our employees.

Our mission statement for safety states that:

Rain CII Carbon is committed to ensuring a safe work environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors. We strive to be the industry leader in safety and foster an environment where safe behavior is recognized as a value and a way of life.

We support our safety program in all areas of our work, promote safety awareness, and communicate effectively to ensure its continuous improvement.

We have committed personnel in each facility responsible for coordinating the safety program and ensuring that all necessary resources are available to ensure the safety and health of our employees. Our safety program – and the number of full-time employees devoted to Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) matters – is one of our most significant areas of growth over the last decade. We recognize the importance of employee involvement in our safety program and encourage it at all levels.
